Difficulty of the beginning

The beginning can be the hardest part in creativity. You may feel need to create, but you cannot act the way you want to. You might feel tired and unwilling. An empty paper may become an obstacle you just cannot overcome. Just thinking about creativity feels difficult and tiresome, and you will find new ways to avoid it.

This means your creativity has become blocked. You want to create, but your inner reasons prevent you doing so. Fear of criticism, fear of failure or success, attempting perfection, they have all become too heavy burden for you. Most of these feelings remain deep in your unconsciousness, and because of that letting go of them can be so difficult. Many methods on this site focus on bringing these emotions to your consciousness, so that you can properly deal with them, and overcome them.

Creativity heals when you are doing something with it. Do something for your art for every day, no matter how small. Prepare your workspace; arrange your art tools, or anything that has something to do with your creativity. You can express your creativity by other ways than you normally would. Dance or sing for a moment, write few words, paint few lines. Anything you do will help you. You are moving forward, even one small step at the time. Then the time will be on your side.

Relaxing
There are many simple methods to overcome the difficulty of the beginning, and one of easiest is relaxing. When you want create anything, and it feels very difficult, cease all attempts to force yourself to act. Just sit down, and relax. Relax systematically all of your muscles by tensing and releasing them. Breathe deeply, and exhale out all tensions within you.

When you have become relaxed, imagine yourself doing exactly what you wish to do, right now. Keep your body relaxed, and imagine yourself creating something at this very moment. When you are thinking about doing at the present moment, and keep yourself relaxed, then the desire to act will be born within you naturally. Move only when you feel desire to do so. Sit down in the front of your project, and relax your body again. Only then start your creation.

This method works well because all these inner pressures will unconsciously make your body become tense. Just thinking about creativity can become difficult and tiring, because it’s exactly that; you are tensing your muscles and your whole body. When you imagine yourself doing something, that idea will affect you, and the real desire to act that way will be born naturally.

Removing blocks
Release blocked emotions and inhibitions with the self-expression. Release them by creating freely and without any restrains. Splash colors to the paper, write anything that comes to your mind, and dance wildly. Express your entire feelings with your art. Release your creative blocks with your creativity, and let it flow freely again.

Playing
Creativity can become too serious, and create too much pressure for you. It's time to play and have fun. Play with creativity and find again joy of creating. Practice hand-crafts, draw, play and have fun. Creativity and self-expression can be fun, they can bring great joy and satisfaction into your life.

Giving it time
Sometimes you need just a bit time to find your inspiration. Sit relaxed with your creative project. Simply give it your time. You can set time for your clock, and use that time for this project. Donate this time to your creativity. There is no need for anything to happen . Most important thing is just to be right here, and give this time and attention to your project. You will become aware of your true feelings when you just sit there quietly, doing nothing. Become aware of your tensions, and release them one by one.

Creative process

Creativity is a living and growing process. Creating is a journey. It needs time, and many unsure steps into the unknown. All creative projects begin with uncertainty, and slowly find their own shape. When you begin to create something new, at the first it will be just a possibility, the beginning of almost anything. Sketch it out and find the right shape in your own pace, in your own way. Slowly it will grow and develop together with you.

Something new is born by trying and experimenting, and playing with new ideas. Many missteps will be taken before we will arrive at our destination. All of them are necessary. Allow your creativity have the space to live and grow, and find new shapes. Creating new is trying and selecting between endless possibilities. Accept uncertainty at the beginning, and focus into the process.

Develop your project at your own pace. Give it time. Have courage to experiment and find new paths. Creating something is like the journey into the unknown. Not even the creator of the project can know its final shape until its ready. It's exploration into the depths of your being. Allow the creative process to live and develop. Protecting creativity

Creativity is something very beautiful. It is also something very vulnerable. When we create and express ourselves, we reveal our deepest emotions and dreams. All criticism can hurt directly our hearts. Creating something is sensitive and intimate. It can easily become wounded. Maybe it will someday become great and mighty river, and then neither fear nor criticism can affect it. Before that you need to protect your creativity by yourself.

When you gain more experience, your creativity will grow stronger. It will still always need caring and nurturing. Take care it as it were precious treasure inside you, because it is exactly that. Care and nurture it like sensitive and wonderful flower, because it is like that. Remove all obstacles from the way of your creativity, and let it fly free.

Receiving criticism

When you create for your own joy and pleasure, you create directly from your heart. In this case, criticism and evaluation are unnecessary. Most of criticism is actually useless and in some cases, only harmful to you. When you express something within you, you express your own self. If you begin to take consideration the views of others, it will no longer be your self-expression. You lose your own expression if you try to please others, and change it to something that others can accept. Your purpose, after all, is to create something that you want, not what others want.

Only when you try to achieve something specific can others tell you how close you made it, in their own opinion, of course. Useful feedback is also possible. This feedback can inform you what you need to develop and add more, and how you can achieve your objectives better. If you wish to bring joy to other people, then you need to ask their opinions directly from. Critics see the art from different point of view than those who wish just to enjoy it. If you want the commercial success, then you need the best quality feedback. You need to be sure than the critic has ability to judge your work. They need to have real experience at your field, or they have created something successfully before. Otherwise you will have no way of knowing if their feedback is useful or not.

Usually criticism is only concerned what is wrong and incorrect. This may be useless and even harmful, because it's very difficult not to do something. That is exactly what will restrict your creativity, this idea that you must not do something. All criticism that is concerned about mistakes is usually useless. Creating is about doing things. Avoiding mistakes is the opposite of creativity. It will only limit your expression and flow of your creativity.

There are no limits in creativity. Commit freely all possible mistakes; they are part of creating things. There are infinite ways of doing things. You can do everything by your own way. Create for your own joy and pleasure. Creating and making freely you will develop your own unique style. This is true self-expression. It will not, however, please everyone, nothing will ever do that. Instead it will bring you joy and fulfillment.

Protect your creativity carefully. Show projects you are making only to those you trust. Creativity is most vulnerable at the beginning. Then it is important to avoid any criticism. There will be however time when you wish to show your achievements to other people. Your creations will be evaluated and criticized one day. Go through all emotions that you feel then. Nurture your creativity like a child if it will get wounded. Recover your creativity once again when it will become necessary.

Creative therapy

We gather many feelings and experiences during their lives. Those emotions can be negative, and they can become heavy burden in our lives. The art can be a way to release all these feelings and experiences. We can express all of our sorrows and pains, fears and sufferings. We can also express our joy and pleasure, for they can also be forgotten by us. Creativity and self-expression can become very liberating experiences.

Creativity can also be a way to release painful emotions and experiences. When you find your creativity again, you will also find the layers of negative emotions and experiences. Those emotions include all fears and limits that are suffocating your creativity and expression. Releasing all those emotions you can be free of many burdens you have carried for years. The art can be an experience that will heal and make whole your entire life.

It's very useful to find your creativity just for this, and experience the freedom of self-expression. This is enough for some people, and they can continue on their lives, and live now more fulfilling and balanced life. It's also possible to stay on this level, and continue to create using negative emotions. This will bind us into the dangerous chain of actions, for when you create something from your negative emotions you will always need more of them.

Your emotions and experiences are fuel for your creativity. You need them to create something new. If you create something from your pain and misery, you need always more pain to continue it. It will cause you to act self-destructive so that you would be more miserable, and use it for your creativity. Creating like this is also very unsure and periodical, and depends on your current emotional state. Most importantly, it is not fun at all, just the painful and maniacal need to release your emotions.

Negative feelings are, however, only small part of human expression. This way is not only way for self-expression. Creativity can be so much more than this. Releasing negative emotions is just the beginning. It's only an outer layer of human experience. When we go through it, we will find our deeper and truer feelings. Only then the wonder of creativity will truly begin. We can also create from light and love, and all the wonders of living. Creativity will then truly be something beautiful and wonderful.

Passion of creativity

Creativity can also be more than just self-expression. This can be called as the higher art. Previous levels were about expressing ourselves in different ways. Other one was about expressing your negative experiences, other was about positive ones. Together these two will create balance. When you have experienced them both, and expressed your all sides, you can express something even more than that.

The higher art is about expressing something greater than you. You can express with the art things that are greater than you are yourself. You can express something greater and more beautiful than your life. This is the art that will give you true passion. You can create passionately, forget place and time, and yourself, and just create. This is the true bliss of creativity.

Creativity like this is very dedicated, almost like devotion. You give all you have to your art when you are doing it. You will set yourself aside, and allow the flow of creativity flow trough you. We are more than our ordinary experiences. Human beings are something more, something greater. At the moment of creation, you can understand this. You can find it by setting your self aside, and letting the all that is, and energy of creativity flow freely in you.

You can find this magical moment by giving everything you have into the creation, even your own self. Works you create this way are always something more, something greater. It can also be song or dance, which will exist just a moment and yet for eternity. That moment will be always with us, because at that moment we will touch eternity.
